The new AUSTRALIAN SPAM
LAW
A new SPAM LAW came into effect on 10/04/04 in Australia.
Anyone sending unsolicited commercial email in Australia can be fined a million dollars.
All commercial email MUST now have the explicit consent of the recipient.
This means that the receiver of email must have signed up for that email.
The use of "targeted" email lists, or other email address gathering methods is
not permitted.
Even sending unsolicited emails offering receivers to "opt out" is now
considered as "spam"
Commercial email in Australia is now legally an "opt in only" system
Spiderweb is committed to the eradication or reduction of "spam".
ALL Spiderweb users, and Hosted Domain Owners, should be aware that under
Spiderweb's terms and conditions, we will comply with all legal demands to supply client's
details should they break the law. This now includes the SPAM LAW.
Anyone found to be sending "spam" will have their account terminated, and
their details passed to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
Spiderweb will continue to advise as to possible maintenance outages, changes to our Terms
and Conditions, and of course, billing, by email, as well as other matters which we might
deem as being important our clients.
