For those of you who
have never been, the Noosa Shire Museum
situated in Pomona has a vast and varied
collection from the past.
The Museum was founded
by the Cooroora Historical Society
in 1985 mainly as a means to preserve
what was rapidly disappearing of the
past.
Housed in the Museum
is an expansive and impressive collection
of Photographs capturing many moments
of the pioneering past as well as modern
moments that will one day be an important
part of Pomona History.
There is something to
appeal to almost everyone amongst the
Museum's displays. Those who wonder
where the technological age is taking
us, will appreciate The Post Office
Exhibit - based on a photo of the Pomona
Post Office in 1916.
Amongst the treasures
you will find various types of telephone,
postcards with penny stamps (now collectors'
items), as well as an ancient Remington
typewriter ... those were the "good
old days"!
Because the railway featured
strongly in everyday life for the area
in days gone by, there is some excellent
railway memorabilia, including a pictorial
history of the big train smash that
occurred here in the late 1930's.
Until you can make a
visit in person, why not take a stroll
through this "virtual Museum"
and whet your appetite for the real
thing.
